Beau Decca cabinet repair.
I'm repairing a Beau Decca cabinet for a Forum member.
The cabinet has a fair bit of woodworm damage. The worst part is the left side rear cabinet foot and a wooden batten which is fitted between the left side front leg and the rotten rear leg. DFWB. |

Good to see it being repaired. Is the rest stable enough?

Hi Chipp,
I've removed all that remains of the side batten and there is a very sound base to fit the new parts. A new cabinet foot will have to be made. DFWB. |

The foot is shaped at the back as well as front presumably?

The replacement batten has been made and was fitted this evening.
The next job is to make the rear foot DFWB. |

Re: Beau Decca cabinet repair.
I've decided not to make a new rear cabinet foot, the existing one is to be repaired instead.

Re: Beau Decca cabinet repair.
The repair is almost done. I will apply a piece of veneer to cover up the join in the wood sections.

The cabinet foot has been veneered and lacquered but the cabinet side does not look a pretty sight. There are lots of woodworm holes to fill.

Re: Beau Decca cabinet repair.
The cabinet left side and the lid have been polished and looks a lot better now.
The camera flash tends to emphasise the woodworm holes. The only real answers to the worm problem is to replace the panels or glue new veneer on the damaged surfaces. Both this methods are very time consuming. The set is to be delivered to it's owner on Sunday. DFWB. |
