Default R1155 and power supply safety

My father-in-law has a R1155 receiver and power supply running from the mains but is now too old to enjoy it anymore. He wants to sell it but is worried about the electrical safety especially if to buyer doesn't understand the danger associated with the high voltages involved. Is it ok to put on ebay or other platforms without having any comeback if things go wrong?

This is not a legal forum and we are not lawyers.

However, you should make it clear in any description that the radio and PSU should be checked by a competent person before being connected to power. The purchaser may themselves be a competent person if they are a radio amateur or vintage radio restorer.

Some people remove the mains plug to make this point explicit, though I don't believe that has any legal force in itself.

Just make it clear to the buyer that it does not meet todays safety standards and you are selling it as spares/repair or as a collectors item only.

If needed get them to sign a disclaimer.

There'll be no comeback selling it here, but you'd have to set a price and won't get the best return!

Despite the sophistication and solidity, they aren't a lot of use in the modern world, and the number of people who want to own them as collector's items is small and getting smaller.

From what I have seen a working R1155 with a power supply, although not necessarily worth a fortune, can be quite sought after.
It's true there a better receivers of the same vintage but with it's ww2 and Lancaster bomber connections, as ebay sellers are keen to exploit, I'm sure you will have no trouble finding a new home for it.
Perhaps you could post a few photos of the receiver and psu and you will get a bit more advice.
If you have to build you own power supply from scratch, and many come wiithout, you won't get much change out of £100.00 unless you have some parts in the workshop.
The better the cosmetic condition and the less it's been got at add to it's interest.
Not to forget how well the psu was put together.
