Default GPO 332 Dials

Hi all

After a long wait I've finally managed to source a 332 in the style I want, fabric cords, cheese drawer, and no call exchange button in a MK1 case with the chrome ring round the plungers, complete with junction box.

My only issue with it is the finger plate and stop are of the black kind and in somewhat poor condition, which I could, and will, restore as I believe it only needs refinishing with some black paint after a quick sand and prime. Though I much prefer the chrome versions from a visual standpoint.

My question is, and I think I already know the answer but want to double check before spending money on it; are the black dials and chrome finger plates/stops direct replacements?

I'd imagine they are, and it is just a cosmetic difference, but like I say, I want to double check before money is spent

Thanks

Let's have a picture of your existing dial, please.

What model number is the dial? (It's on the back of the dial, easily visible once the dial is popped out).

Good morning

I've attached a vendor's photo as I've not yet got the phone. I doubt the photo says much but just in case here it is

It's a little bit worse for wear but I'm very much looking forward to restoring it!

Thanks

Did the GPO ever fit non-chromed finger plates to their 300-series dials?

I have seen a couple black finger plates on 300 series, but they do seem much less common than their chrome counter parts

All dials have a model number stamped in them somewhere and that looks like a No.10 but it has no numbers on the dial?.

The numbers are there but extremely faded which I saw from another photo, so the backplate will need replacing either way. I’ll get the number up as soon as I can! I’m happy to keep it black if needed, I just prefer the chrome look

Thanks

Dials with black finger stops were often fitted to exchange test desks/ apparatus.

Hi 19Seventy7,
I would happily swap your black no.10 dial for a chrome no.10 dial, that has been properly tested for speed and ratio.
Cheers
Andy
