Elektor? EPROM emulator.
Hi,
I have just found an EPROM emulator that I built about 1992, which is controlled by a PC printer port. the unit has stopped working, and I've lost the paperwork I think it was from an Elektor design, and is built around 74LS chips, and a single RAM chip. Does anyone have a collection of Elektor they can look in? I can't find an online index that goes back beyond 2000. Thanks Jim. |

Re: Elektor? EPROM emulator.
Jim, my Elektors begin to thin out around '92. Did you use their PCB, if so there should be a code on it, the first two figures of which signify the year. I can have a trawl through the 90's indexes, but without some more detail it could take forever....( number /type of chips, etc ? ) Andy

Andy,
unfortunatly, it was built on veroboard. The unit is at work, so I'll have a look tomorrow and jot down the chip types. Thanks Jim. |

Re: Elektor? EPROM emulator.
Reckon I've got the same emulator. Circuit board no. is 910082. I've got Elektor mags dating back to 1978 but, guess what, can't find the one with this project. Typical.
ICs used in mine are: 74HC590 x2, 7407, 74AC74,74HC123AN,74HCT574, 74HC590, 74HCT541 x3 on the EPROM cable side, 43256 SRAM (could take 2 of these but I've only got one fitted, implying only 32Kbyte emulation? (cheapskate!). A complete mix of various TTL technologies, probably defined by what I could "borrow" at the time. Mine's gathering dust here for at least a decade - long finished with digital electronics. So, free to a good home for postage cost only. Drop me a PM if interested. It worked last time I used it but needs a DC mains adapter, probably 9vdc as it has an internal 7805 regulator. Steve. |

Re: Elektor? EPROM emulator.
Hi Gents, try e-mailing Elektor as they seem quite good at back numbers and they even ran some articles on a "20 years ago" theme.

Re: Elektor? EPROM emulator.
Hi All,
the chips used in the device are as follows: 75LS245 buffers to development system x3 6264 RAM 74LS245 buffers to PC x3 74LS14 74LS393 x2 Address counter? 74LS02 7805 Voltage reg. Does this ring any bells? Thanks Jim. |

Re: Elektor? EPROM emulator.
I think I've tracked mine down to being published in September 1992, under the title of "EPROM Emulator II". Still can't find the magazine though...

Re: Elektor? EPROM emulator.
Steve/Jim, I found the ELEKTOR referenced and the article has the correct PCB ref, however the chips used are pretty much as Steve's list and nothing like those in your list Jim !
Still, the article is there for anyone to borrow if they want to.... Jim, If you get another "hit" for an ELEKTOR reference for yours, I should have it provided its prior to '93 when my magazine subs lapsed ! Andy |

Re: Elektor? EPROM emulator.
Andy,
I now have Steve's emulator. A copy of the original article would be useful, if possible. Thanks Jim. |
