Two 14" picture monitors.
Arrived yesterday, two rather dirty and bashed up monitors. One is a Marconi and the really rusty one is an unknown make to me.
If unserviceable, there's always two 14" rectangular electrostatic gun CRTs for other restoration projects. DFWB. |

I thought you were 'down-sizing'? Ho! Hee! Hee!
(Far too useful to dump I'll grant you ..... as is anything un-necked and lively ..... )

Well I am but the chance of two 14" electrostatic CRTs was too good to miss. The monitor with the rusty cabinet is an all transistor model made in the USA by Conrac in California. The CRT is a Mullard AW36-48. The line output transistor is a BU106, European devices in an American product. This monitor was made for 250volt 50 or 60Hz mains supplies. DFWB. |

Re: Two 14" picture monitors.
What better way of downsizing than buying more stuff!! I'm sure I saw those on Ebay recently and wondered who might buy them- they looked interesting!
Presumably, the American one is 525 line? What about the other one? All the best. Nick |

Be careful when opening your front door David. An alert has gone out for the men in white coats. J.

Re: Two 14" picture monitors.
Conrac monitor is very likely 525/625, or at least will work well on 625 - line frequency is almost identical while field timebase could be persuaded to work at 50Hz- many of these found their way across the atlantic in the 60s & 70s - earlier ones had some valves, later all transistor like this one. It is likely that CRT and BU106 were fitted while in European service - originals were probably American.

Marc." Hi Marc, No Blackpool rock, but found some soil in one of the monitors. Blackpool rock? High sugar levels, not good. 1100Man wrote: "Presumably, the American one is 525 line? It might be 405 only or like my Peto-Scott multi standard monitor, auto sensing for 405/50 and 625/50, also 525/60. "Be careful when opening your front door David. An alert has gone out for the men in white coats". Hi John, when those white coat men see what I have bought they'll agree this guy knows good stuff when he sees it. Hi Kan Turk, The Conrac? I reckon it's good for 625/50 and I'm sure it can be fixed easily. Attachment shows the interior of the Conrac, scary looking thing. DFWB. Last edited by FERNSEH; 29th Sep 2017 at 6:29 pm. |
