Re: Looking for the thread describing a home made metal bender.
Hi Robin, something else to consider is to buy a relatively cheap one online. I picked up this guy from amazon (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JMitUg8_Tk) some time back and it works perfectly fine for my needs. After weighing up the pros and cons of make vs buy I decided that it would cost more in additional tools to make one than to buy a cheap one.
Don't expect top class engineering! However, if all you want to do is bend light sheet metal for, say, making enclusures, etc. It does the job nicely. |

Re: Looking for the thread describing a home made metal bender.
Hi Robin. After our initial contact, my first purchase was sold fairly quickly and I bought the one pictured...Ok it is not in the spirit of what you want to do, but my thought was to put my effort into making the boxes rather than making the tool to do it.... I have still to make the inserts to allow me to make boxes rather than just folds.... which makes the tool far more use. Note..... please forgive my poor welding..I had not done stick welding for a while, and now a friend has lent me his modern mask, I can... hopefully improve.
