Default Repairing push button switches

Hi. I have a Blaupunkt Virginia 2430 am/fm radio (1956) that has a button for am ferroceptor/external aerial. The button will not hold down in place when pressed, so the internal ferrite aerial is not in circuit. Anyone else experienced this problem ? The spring (visible from the underside of the switch bank) seems in reasonable condition.
Many thanks
Mike

I have no idea how thiese work , but presumably a catch must be prought into play by the spring ? maybe it needs lube

Hi. Many thanks for your reply. The button will not keep down once pressed, thats why I thought the spring might be faulty.

its just possible that something needs lubrication as it may be jammed . the spring wont do the job if so . Its possible the spring is stretched

Mike
If this is a "push on, push off" type of button, there will be some sort of catch to retain it in the "on" position; this is usually a small pivoted lever with a slot in it, and a hairpin spring to keep it against a peg on the sliding part of the switch.

Is such a thing visible?
