Default Musical Box Restoration

A dear friend in Cheshire has a family heirloom musical box that is in need of repair. Not quite "vintage radio" but definitely vintage mechanical music, so perhaps I'll be allowed this request here.

Is anyone in the Nantwich area of Cheshire or nearby interested in doing a bit of restoration, or knows of someone who can?

Below is an extract from his email detailing the box and its condition:

Many thanks
Jeremy

The Musical Box was manufactured by P V F St Croix, Switzerland, it is a big one (12 Airs - as they say in the trade), - or tunes to you and me! It has 76 combs of which 7 require mending, 6 Bird bells, 1 large Drum with 8 strikers, Floral inlays, a 40 cm. Cylinder, and the main spring is broken/requires mending.

I suggest you contact these people:-

From the description it sounds like a top-of-the range box that when restored will be worth a lot. From my own experience with a lesser box, restoration will cost well into 4 figures.

Hi Richard,
Sorry for the late reply. I missed your very helpful suggestions. I have passed them on to the owner. I have just seen the box itself and it is huge, and magnificent! It does need quite a bit of work but is intact at least.
Regards
Jeremy
