Viewmaster restoration
I have been looking at articles on the Practical Television Viewmaster recently.
I read the articles in Practical television decades ago when I was in my early teens with interest. Later on I was given a much modified chassis by my Physics teacher in the mid 1970's so I have had an interest for some time... This last few weeks I have been somewhat housebound by a knee injury so I have had a lot more time on my hands than normal so I thought I would have a read up on the Viewmaster. I read with great interest FERNSEH's thread on the restoration of the rusty Viewmaster chassis . Most impressive work! However the thread has been closed without conclusion of the restoration. I just wondered if the set was ever finished? I would really like to see the completed restoration. I don't know why the thread was closed but if the set was finished would there be any chance of re opening it so it could be concluded? It was very interesting and it seems a shame that it just petered out... I really wish that I had kept the set I was given by my teacher! Rich. |

Re: Viewmaster restoration
Hi Rich,
Is your set a 9" or 12" model? If it is the latter I have a spare CRT securing band which you are welcome to. DFWB. |

Re: Viewmaster restoration
Mine was extensively modified with a rectangular tube. I think it was 14", it also had a modified (or reconstructed ) R.F chassis that used EF80s and a turret tuner. Unfortunately the set is long gone...
But many thanks for the offer ! Rich |

Re: Viewmaster restoration
Yes, from what I can remember it looked very much like that. Imagine the trouble a school teacher would be in these days for giving a pupil a large unprotected CRT!
