Default Braun T1000 scale illumination lamps.

I'm currently restoring a Braun T1000CD radio and having a lot of trouble sourcing replacement scale illumination lamps.

The lamps in question are a miniature bayonet type fitting with 1.5v filament. Relentless searches of the internet have brought up nothing.

I managed to find some 1.5v MES lamps and thought I may be able to adapt the lamp holders to accept them unfortunately the glass bulb part of the MES lamp is much longer than that of the original lamps and so it will not do.

Just wondered if anyone could recommend a source or a suitable alternative to these lamps? I have attached a picture below, the lamp closest to the ruler is from the Braun and the one I'm trying to source, the lamp at the top is a MES fitting but is too long.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Hi you do not mention voltage, if it is 12 volt may be this type would do, as far as I can make out it is a Ba7s if it has a diameter of about 7mm.

Before blue LEDs became inescapable, quite a few single-cell cheapie alarm clocks had rice-grain wire-end filament bulbs, so someone (probably in China) must have been churning out zillions of them- I found a few on eBay but more expensive than I had hoped! Also, are these bulbs in series- a rewire might widen the choice.

Try these people. Not used them myself so cannot comment further.

Searching for "1.5V grain of wheat" or "1.5V rice grain / grain of rice" bulbs / lamps throws up several possibilities for replacing the active bit in the original base..

Though you may need to cough up £10 for a hundred of them!

Thank you for all your replies. After more searching I've decided to try and transplant a grain of rice bulb into the original bases as suggested by Herald1360 and have just placed an order for some of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/100PCS-Cl...TCt3abTN5WPjwA
Not sure how successful it's going to be but I'll have 98 spare ones to practice with!
It's going to be 2 or 3 weeks before they arrive but once they do I'll report back with an update on progress. Thanks again.
