Chas gave me the date of 26th April, but I'm not certain that it is other than provisional. Let's hope that an edition of The Radiophile arrives soon - that should tell us for sure, unless anyone knows different.
Whatever the date, I hope to see you there, John, and Sean too (not forgetting everyone else!)

If this is not too far OT: is there a Spring Exposition at Shifnal this year? I don't get Radiophile and the BWVS website no longer has these listings.

Thanks,

Dave

Shifnal is no more.

The rising cost of the hall, coupled with the inflexibility of the hall management and lower numbers of stall holders has made the event unviable.

Hinstock is the replacement - 28th March

Cheers
Sean

Sean - just for clarity: are you saying that there's an auction next Sunday (28 March) and the spring expo on 26 April, both at Hinstock Village Hall?

Right - my Radiophile arrived this morning, so to answer my own question (and for the benefit of anyone else who's puzzled)...

The (ex-Shifnal) Spring Expo is on Sunday 29 March (this Sunday), at Hinstock Village Hall.

Cowbit Spring Expo is on Sunday 26 April, at (surprise, surprise) Cowbit!

Catalogues should be available on the door - give Chas a bell to confirm.

Stall Holders - 09:30am
Visitors - 10:30am

Same times for Hinstock, Cowbit & Sambrook.

Just got back from Cowbit - good to see Chas seems to be his old self again.
Some interesting stuff there - like a FenMan II with a superb cabinet and scale - only £30; if I didn't already have one, I'd have been tempted.

Nice to chat with Tony (Aerodyne), Edward (Igranic), (old)John and anyone else I missed.
Sean conspicuous by his absence!

Lovely warm day as well - roof down most of the way back.

I only received permission to attend at the last minute - I was supposed to be stewarding at a charity plant sale, but as I know very little about decorative plants they let me off, on condition I returned in time to help clear up - so I was only able to spend two hours at Cowbit.

I did not have time to stay for the auction, but I did find a nice, unrestored, KB Rhapsody Deluxe, complete with mains connector, and some other useful parts.

Nice to meet up with acquaintances, old and new, and to see Chas looking so well.

A good day was had by all who attended, I feel, although the 'crowd' wasn't quite as numerous as previous times, possibly due to the range of items in the sale. Despite this I found four items and a few odds and ends and thoroughly enjoyed meeting up again with so many like-minded people, including those who seemingly always take my money from me! What a great bunch vintage radio enthusiasts are! Anyone who wondered about attending but didn't get around to it, there's due to be the second Cowbit meeting of the year in the Autumn, so there's another opportunity coming up.

I enjoyed my visit and came home with 7 items from the auction.

One surprise in the auction, a book entitled "Wireless Telegraphy and Hertzian Waves by S.R.Botan and published in 1900 went for £120!
