We do get a bit passionate about radios here at times, hardly surprising.

Don't quite get your drift Theresa, I was only trying to offer good advice. I'm sure there's lots of collectors who now know about this set who would be willing to give you a 'few hundred' pounds for it, but on a good day, at auction, it could fetch much more. It's your set, it's up to you, you asked for advice, we're giving it!

So, I give sincere, genuine, well meant, experience based advice to the best of my ability and I get accused of "picking on women" ?!!!

I'm out.

Hi Theresa
My advice would be to hang on to this set if you possibly can afford to, most if not all of us have regrets over things we have let go in the past. Especially things with great sentimental value.
This particular radio is in the same category as Volkswagen campers they have become iconic and are never going to lose value unless they catch fire.
I agree with others who recommend not plugging in the radio until a few things
have been checked and replaced. Any work needs to be done professionally by someone who understands that much of its value lies in its originality.

If you were to obtain what is known as a pantry transmitter and rebroadcast whatever music/speech you want around your house you could use this everyday and enjoy it.

Most of all I would like to congratulate you on what I would say is a lottery win of loft finds
Kind regards RT

Sorry, Theresa, my earlier comment was in response tovthis remark:

Excellent advice given - get somebody knowledgeable to check it if you want to use it. If not, then originality will be key to getting a good price, but in the meantime store it carefully.
