Help in identifying this telephone?
Hello all,
A Friend of my mums has just purchased this phone and has sent me pictures, but honestly it has me stumped. I'm very familiar with pretty much all GPO models, but i've never seen anything quite like this. I am guessing its apart of Hull Corporation's Telephone stock? As from what I have been told they were the only telephone operator in the UK to use black dials. I guess to distinguish it from GPO stock, which were not able to operate in Hull, as Hull made had their own telephone network independent of the GPO. Either that or it has come from abroad, which is a pretty unfamiliar area for me, GPO stock is what I know. I really hope someone can help clarify things. |

Re: Help in identifying this telephone?
Looks utterly foreign to me too.
Are there any markings underneath or inside? The word "Lokaal" on one of the buttons implies Dutch or Belgian, I suspect. Nick. |

Foreign.
Open it up and hopefully there's a paster inside with the circuit. Any markings on the bottom? |

Re: Help in identifying this telephone?
I would agree with Nick here; the handset and dial back plate look a lot like ones I have seen on some Belgian telephones.
Regards, Jim

The other one being marked "NKT", so does that ring any bells (apologies for the pun) with anyone?

Re: Help in identifying this telephone?
Hi, I'm pretty sure this are a Belgian one. Have with more buttons, it was widly used in smaller companies to find a lo-cost replacment of a PABX.
dsk PS Make: ATEA (Belgium) Rare version with only 2 buttons, and 1 indicator. This diagram are for a version with more buttons, so it may be simplified, but may give an idea of the electric design. http://www.telefoonmuseum.eu/images/...4%20schema.jpg Fully compatible with British telephone systems who accepts rotary dials. Often refered as copper telephone, because some of those has alloy cases, copperclad, before painting. You may google terma as; ATEA Serietelefon, Atea serietoestel, ATEA telephone etc. DS Last edited by dagskarlsen; 26th Aug 2014 at 8:54 am. |
