Default Pilot X65-B

I have been asked to try and resurrect this set, 1935-ish, American. It has sat in the sun a long time somewhere as half the tuning dial has faded away. Is there anyone with one of these sets who could photograph the scale for us? The owner thinks he could re-create it given something to work from.

There are some horrors underneath it, 1960s style Radiospares capacitors hanging off things for starters. It will not be a quick job!

I'll take a picture of the tuning scale tomorrow.
The Pilot X65B is an excellent performer.
Well worth spending some time on the restoration.

Here's hoping the attached pictures of the X65B tuning scale will be of some use when making a replacement.

Thanks, especially useful as it is the left hand side that has faded away.

Default Pilot X65-B again

Referring to an earlier thread about this set I have corrected the obvious horrors and changed "that" capacitor. Powered up using a lamp limiter and it all seems to work, stations heard on MW and LW. But does anyone know what the HT voltage should be? It is around 300v which seems high to me for a domestic receiver but all the relevant components have adequate voltage ratings and there is no sign of magic smoke or anything over-heating. Not yet anyway!

300 volts HT will be about right for the X65B. I can check to confirm if that is the correct HT voltage from my X65B.

In my X65B the voltage on the HT reservoir capacitor is 345V and the smoothed HT line is 260volts.
