Pye Transistor MW+2SW Set
I have just pulled this out of the shed and it's silent.
I have had it since the 1980s and it used to work well. Looks like a possible candidate for Tin whiskers. It has no ID plate. If someone can identify it please then I will look for schematics before starting to repair. |

Re: Pye Transistor MW+2SW Set
My Colleague Alan Bednall designed this Export-Only Model in the mid-1960s. The input /output socketry was comprehensive and is a seldom seen feature. I'm sorry, I don't recall the model number.

Re: Pye Transistor MW+2SW Set
Looks like a close relative of this one:
https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/pye_unknown_am.html Though that's not much help! It's probably an export set (from the MW, 2SW band coverage) so data might be elusive. A search on the transistor lineup might suggest a similar UK model (LW, MW, SW perhaps) which could help with a "near enough" circuit.

Re: Pye Transistor MW+2SW Set
Thanks both for your replies. That is the one. Interesting that it was intended for export.
It turned up at the church bazaar in Comberton near Cambridge around 1986 and I have had it ever since. It seemed to work well. I will look out for a similar set for a schematic or otherwise fix it from first principles. I have haven't yet worked out how it comes to bits. |

Re: Pye Transistor MW+2SW Set
Given that you found it in Cambridge, it may have 'escaped' from the factory or been sold off to staff.
