The last US-made cells I remember coming across were made by Ray-O-Vac. That would have been in about 2000, long after I was forced to start paying for my own batteries, the Tandy Free Battery Club having ceased.

I wonder what happened to Ray-O-Vac?

Still available as a brand but they now appear to be part of Energizer.

I would use Energiser, these are often made in Singapore and are really good batteries.
(Check packaging for country of manufacture though...)

The box of Energiser Industrial D cells I bought from CPC last year were made in the USA.

The Energiser AAA Max Plus batteries, bought at the same time, are also made in the USA.
