PYE Flask
I picked this up at our local antiques emporium last week. As I saw it on the shelf, I thought it was a oversized can of switch cleaner, but it's an Aladdin Flask with the glass insides still intact.
"A Golden gift from PYE - Presented Olympics Year 1976" A quick look on the internet doesn't show any significant 50th (Golden) anniversary for the Company that year. Could the Golden reference be something to do with Pye's Golden Guinea record label? A gift maybe for staff, retailers or customers? Which branch of Pye? Has anyone else here seen one or still got one? Regards, SR |

Re: PYE Flask
Possibly....
If I was the marketing department, I would have just bought plain ones and said 'A Gift from Pye'. I imagine the gold finish cost a little more? I do like the fact the Pye logo seems to be a good colour match for the cup and stopper. Regards, SR |

Re: PYE Flask
Hope it's OK to bump this, maybe some of the ex-Pye employees here missed it first time round?
Thanks. SR |

Anyway, what I said was I felt the "Gold" reference was simply to celebrate the Montreal Olympics, no more than that. I know Pye once had a subsidiary company operating in Canada, but perhaps not as late as 1976. It's quite likely that Pye supplied equipment to the Olympics, but even if they didn't, lot's of firms would want to use sponsorship and get their branding associated with the event.

Re: PYE Flask
I agree, it's some sort of tie-in with the Montreal Olympics.
