Blaupunkt query
I'm busy with a Blaupunkt radio chassis from a radiogram, and curious to know how to read the selector switch in the close -up pics: RDO; MON; STR; BAL? Bringing the set up to voltage, I don't receive any radio, but a signal injected into the volume pot produces sound from the speaker. So far, so good.

Re: Blaupunkt query
The blue-outlined box next to the knob suggests: Radio, Gram (mono), Gram (stereo), Balance check.

Re: Blaupunkt query
If the radio were stereo I'd say 'Balance Control', but then doesn't that sign read 'Balance' & 'Check', not 'Balance check'

Re: Blaupunkt query
There looks to be a control marked "balance" on the right where the numbered knob is, only part of the word left where the glass dial is broken which I guess controls balance when playing a record.
Cant imagine what a Balance check is though? |

Re: Blaupunkt query
Does it inject a tone to aid balance setting?
