Default Help identify model or make of radiogram

Hi All,
I am trying to identify the make of a radiogram, I was asked to check out. We can't find any markings on the radiogram, except for the word monarach.
I am attaching some pictures which may help
Best Regards,
Eddie.

Monarch is just the turntable. That speaker aperture shape was common on Ekco TVs?

Definately not a Dynatron. The Plessey 10" speaker suggests this might be a Regentone/Argosy variant. If not, possibly Ace, Seymour or Fidelity. I would date this as early 1955, pre-FM. A close up of the tuning dial would help more.

It could be a special for the Irish market.

There was a Cossor top-opening gram of similar dimensions, but the one I'm thinking of had a Garrard RC121 deck.

Hi,
The chassis and aerial looks a lot like the innards of the 1954 Beethoven table radiogram that my parents had, and which I now own.
I was told that it was made by Plessey.
It has 'H' series B7G valves. I think they have 100 mA heaters connected in series.
Hope this helps.
Cheers, Pete.

Hi All, Thanks for all your inputs, but I am still searching with not much luck, Edward, it's pre FM, no FM on tuner.

Mmmmm - as a former Product Designer for Pye I can often find a clue from the dial graphics. Also the 4 control knobs, and their relative positions, indicate that this Radiogram may not be any of my earlier suggestions. Not only is it pre-FM, it's also pre-Ferrite Rod too! Sorry, I'm stumped on this one.

If it's Irish it could be quite late and still not have FM. The B9A valves suggest late 50s.

my grandparents had this same gram .they bought it from Curry's sometime in the early 50s .I remember it because it had its user manual [all 3 pages ] in the record compartment .i am almost certain it was a Westminster

looking at those photos again there is a cosmetic difference to the one my grandparent's had in that the lid and centre panel with the speaker aperture in it were in a darker wood almost black.

If it were to have been a Westminster it would certainly have been clearly branded as such. Looking at the chassis, that modest Mains TX and the basketweave internal aerial suggests that this was not built by a mainstream manufacturer.

Are the valves B9A or B7G?. The chassis has similarities to the thin Masteradio sets of the early 50's.

Can we have a clear photo of the tuning scale?

Hi All, I have been following up on all your inputs with little luck, but on the good side I'm learning lots.
Hi Tractorfan, if your unit is the same as mine, can you take a picture of the power lead connections ?, power lead missing in my unit.
Thanks for all your help so far,
Eddie

Hi all,

Looks like the end of the road on this search, I have gone through all your suggestions in the above posts with no luck. Its looks like it's not a standard model.

The reason I wanted to identify the model was to get a wiring/circuit diagram. Is there any other approach I can take ?

Tractorfan, can you send me more information on your unit, some chassis pictures, and wiring power lead ?

Thanks again for all your help,
Eddie

Hi StationX,
The unit is in a friends house, so it will take me a day or two. How do I identify the valve line out ?
Thanks, Eddie
