Cossor 494 Aerial former
I have a Cossor 494A radio that has an aerial coil former that has snapped underneath where it is near the chassis (picture attached).
Is there a way of building a layer back to make it level? I have tried "Evo Stik" putty using various amounts to make it level. Will have to see how that fares when it dries. Someone did give me another coil stack which is similar in looks, but it does not have the l.w coil. The resistances on my old one are 14 ohms (l.w), 4.5 ohms (m.w) and a low reading for the s.w Failing this, does anyone have a scrap Cossor 494A radio from which they could supply me the the aerial coil unit from please? Regards Mike |

Re: Cossor 494 Aerial former
looks like you could shove a piece or round dowel in the end and use that to mount it.

Re: Cossor 494 Aerial former
Hi. This is how the aerial former repair for the Cossor 494 radio has progressed. I have added a plastic ring around the outside of the repair (just under the fitting slots). Hope that this fits?

Re: Cossor 494 Aerial former
Lovely job Mike. Shame my coil was different. I think there must have been 2 alternatives.

Hi Peter.
Many thanks for your reply and efforts in supplying me with your aerial. The next stage is sorting how it went back. Mike |

Most of these sets are not common like the 494 and 500/1 so it was unlucky the coil wasn't suitable.. Cheers Mike T
