An Impressive Ham Radio Collection
This one will be of interest to the Radio Hams among us and probably most other members. I showed these photo's to my wife and now she thinks I'm normal.

Re: An Impressive Ham Radio Collection
Good grief! The buildings foundations must be sunk into rock.
Very nicely displayed too. Andrew

Re: An Impressive Ham Radio Collection
God's teeth. I thought I had problems in collecting test equipment. My lot would hardly make a start on just one of this guy's shelves.

Re: An Impressive Ham Radio Collection
Wow! severe case of collectoritis!Very jealous indeed as i only have a 33foot Tennamast though my aerial is 33X18 feet on top.
And i got reported for my mast but succesful planning permission did arrive. Just love the BoatAnchor stuff. David GM8JET |

Re: An Impressive Ham Radio Collection
That's not a shack, it's a combined dealership and museum! Nice to see the kit in such good condition. No need for heating in that room on a cold day, then; just turn on a few radios, key up one of those massive transmitters and you'd be toasty in no time!
I'm only jealous...

Re: An Impressive Ham Radio Collection
Just shows what you can do with cheap space, obsession and a serious surplus in your disposable income.
Impressed but also slightly nauseous........

Re: An Impressive Ham Radio Collection
That is an incredible collection and so well organised and displayed.
The overspill collection has gone into what looks like garage space. When that gets filled up, then as there is plenty of room, he could always build another warehouse! Symon. |

It looks good but my IC706 will do most of what that does.

Re: An Impressive Ham Radio Collection
Hi Peter,
As will my 857 no doubt, but not in the same style! However, I showed that stunning display to my missus tonight, and said 'You complain about my radio bits and pieces, - look at this lot!' She looked at the pictures and replied ' Yes his is very neat isn't it!' Sometimes you just can't win. Kind regards Dave |

See if you can get an agreement - keep it tidy and you can have as much as you like.

Re: An Impressive Ham Radio Collection
A truly jaw-dropping collection. And with so many nice examples of things I could or do easily covet!
But I do feel that so much of this stuff is just collected and not used when you get to this level of obsession. Not even powered on from time to time to keep it happy and warm. And as for his poor wife and family when he passes on... that's a real headache. I know I have a form of collecting obsession but I do at least spare a thought to those who have to clear up after I have gone and put some limits on it. Jeremy

Re: An Impressive Ham Radio Collection
That guy will have connections into a local group. There will be people to help whenever necessary. As a collection goes, that one has gone far beyond the point where it has any purpose.
I used to sail dinghies on the Forth, and there were these power boat people with hulking huge engines and the ability to go anywhere at staggering speeds. And did they... no. They sat around bored off of their tiny chumps. Nothing was a challenge any longer. They could buzz around like a fly on a window pane but the novelty wore out fast. Once you have everything you've always wanted and done everything ditto... what's left to do? They had no answers, not even 42. David
