Default Virtual Valve Museum

Does anyone know what has happened to this website of CV-numbered valves? All I get is a warning of an 'unsafe site'.

Works fine for me (assuming I am looking at the same thing).

You are probably being protected from accessing a web site that might be dangerously interesting, due to some issue with certificates (or lack of them).

When you see that stupid message try looking in the "advanced" bit for the details. It usually turns out that their certificate for HTTPS has just expired which I regard as a very minor security issue.

If you're referring to what I've circled below it simply means the the site is using plain HTTP rather than the secure HTTPS protocol. Given that you'll only be viewing the site rather than entering any sensitive information into it I wouldn't (and don't) worry about it.

It was still misbehaving when accessed via my favourites bar, using either IE or Firefox. Going via Google to find the address https://www.valvecollector.uk it worked fine, so I have deleted it as a favourite and replaced it and it now works as it should. Very odd!

I get this when using FireFox as my browser, Safari gets upset and thinks I am an imbosile for trying to look at an "unsecure" site. This message can easily be placed in a list of trusted sites.
No idea about microsoft.

I see that a couple of replies here mention the 'r-type' valve museum website; this is not the same valve museum as the one I was discussing.

Perhaps you could supply a link to the valve museum you are discussing then.

As I said in post #4, it is also working OK for me now.
The problem was somehow associated with accessing it via my Favourites bar, but strangely using either IE or Firefox. Deleting it as a favourite and then re-entering the address cured the problem.

That screen shot was taken using Windows 10/Edge, not used Firefox for years so can't comment on that.

Odd. The server is set up to redirect http to https on first contact so there should never be an issue. Apache sends a 301 redirect so the browser should immediately go to the https page, unless browsers are beginning to look into and whinge about redirections before redirecting...

Edit: a thought, I wonder if an old page has some http: references inside. I thought I had got all of them but I will have another look. That would / should cause a warning.

Firefox version 92.0 beta, has no issues. Safari Version 15.0 is also fine.
Firefox is downloading a newer version and has to restart so I will let you know in a few moments.

Firefox 92.0 full public version is also fine. Maybe the browser history needs clearing because it is looking for an out of date page.
