Default PYE Cambridge radio model 1101/A

Good Afternoon,

This is my first time posting in the forum.

Following the passing of both my parents I have kept a PYE Cambridge Radio.

It’s in good condition and seems too nice to end up in a skip.

Is there anywhere that upcycles radios or a place someone might look for a vintage-ish piece.

I have already decided to keep the pioneer record player but can’t keep everything sadly.

I’m in the Bedfordshire area.

Thank you
MissDee

Welcome to the forum and condolences on the loss of your parents.

That Pye 1101A radio that was a favourite among seafarers in the 60's - I know, I was one! A bit large to carry around if you signed off at a foreign port! However they worked well for a basic four valver and could be guaranteed to pick up the BBC from anywhere on a longish bit of wire and sounded good with the large speaker.

I don't know what the protocol is for new members wanting to sell items on this site but you could try putting it in the "Sets, Parts and Service Information Offered" section.

I wouldn't try plugging it in "to see if it works" without someone having a look at it first - 60 year old radio components have some nasty habits!

Thank you so much!

That really is very interesting, my grandad worked for P&O so was at sea on an off quite a bit as well as an office in India.

I’m not really looking for anything for it, I just don’t want to get rid of it at the skip.

I hope someone might like it in the Bedfordshire or surrounding area to “have a go” or up cycle it in some way.

Many thanks

MissDee

To clarify things, is this being offered free of charge?
