8 Way Rotary Switch
Hi Everybody,
I am looking for an 8 Way Rotary Switch with Two sets of independant contacts. I guess the correct description is an 8 Throw 2 Pole Switch, or something like that. Can anybody recommend a source for such a switch. I can't find one, at least not one small enough to go in a Modern Rig. Ian |

Re: 8 Way Rotary Switch
Unless you are talking of a custom switch, most rotary wafer switches are based on a count of 12. So 6 way/position 2 pole or 12 way/position 1 pole, thus to get an 8 way/position 2 pole, it would require 2 single pole 12 way/position wafers and the position stop pin placing for 8 ways. Other standard types are 3 way 4 pole and 4 way 3 pole. Depending on available space you might need a 12 way 2 pole sub miniature type and expect a price of £15 or more. Cheapest source was always radio rallies or surplus dealers.

Try searching for "2P8T 2 Pole 8 Position 2 Deck Band Channel Rotary Switch Selector" on eBay.

Re: 8 Way Rotary Switch
Thanks for the feedback.

Re: 8 Way Rotary Switch
Hi Ian
Try CPC part number SW04136 £1.38 plus vat. 250v at 150mA max. Most of this Lorlin range you can move the stop pin to give any combos from 2 way 4 pole to 12 way 1 pole. Bob

Re: 8 Way Rotary Switch
Thanks Bob,
I did look through CPC and Lorlin as suggested, but it's pretty much what Dave said at the begining of this Thread. Everything seems to be based on a 12 configuaration. So 8 x 2 is a problem. However, it appears Greyhills may make a suitable Switch, but working out what the Part Number is from their Datasheet requires a University Degree! I certainly haven't been able to find the one I need on CPC or Ebay yet. But certainly looks like Greyhills are the only ones who might make a suitable Switch. I've had Greyhills Switches before, and they are (or at least were) quite good quality componants. Ian |

Re: 8 Way Rotary Switch
This might help:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324788523...oAAOSwi8lhP28r It's described as a 2-pole 11 / 12 way rotary switch. Looking at one of the photos, it looks like its construction is of the type where the number of 'ways' can be altered by changing the location of the rotary stop. These types of switch often have a series of holes in the switch's front plate where you can relocate the stop bar, so you can then choose the number of ways to your requirements. HTH, Al. |
