Re: Spirit of the forum, OT?
A question for the mods. what percentage of posts are deleted? I bet it is very small.

Re: Spirit of the forum, OT?
Depends on what you mean. Posts are normally just closed and left for the archive. They can be searched and read indefinitely, and reopened if appropriate. Very few, other than spam, are deleted. Spent offered, wanted or transport posts are culled occasionally.

Re: Spirit of the forum, OT?
When we delete posts we normally 'soft delete' them, meaning that they can be 'undeleted' if necessary. We don't delete many though, and it isn't done without a good reason so we would be reluctant to undelete them. The main reasons to delete a post are off topic posting, abusive or confrontational posting, or incomprehensibe or extremely badly written text. We don't delete as many as we used to a few years ago.
We obviously delete spam posts, but they don't really count as they never get approved so never appear in the public forums. |

Re: Spirit of the forum, OT?
Looking at the number of threads in those sections, a cull is clearly long overdue. When I have some time in the next few weeks I will clear everything before 1st Jan this year. I must make sure it doesn't take the total posts count back below 1 million though!

That could cost me a case of Guiness every time someone re-passed the million mark!

Re: Spirit of the forum, OT?
I joined this forum many years ago knowing very little about vintage electronics. I am still by no means an expert but with the support I have received I can buy a valve radio with confidence that I can restore it either by myself or with help from the forum, often by reading old threads.
The only downside is that I have far too many radios and amps now!
