Information on Pilot Radios.
I am hoping to find some info on a Pilot BS745 namely a picture and if there were different versions of the radio and if there was a late prewar version.
Also any pictures of the rare B8648 table radio. Thanks in advance.

Re: Information on Pilot Radios.
A quick Google turned up these.
http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/pilot_bs745_bs_74.html Did you possibly mean BS648 and not B8648 for the other? if so then this is the other. http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/pilot_bs648_bs_64.html and this http://www.service-data.com/section.php/6218/1 or R&TS Vol II page 242 Last edited by oldticktock; 22nd Nov 2010 at 10:37 pm. |

Re: Information on Pilot Radios.
Hi.
Thanks guys but I have Googled these. I am trying to find a model number of the one I had years ago and it could well be the very rare B8648 which is not listed anywhere, although it is a known Pilot UK model!

Re: Information on Pilot Radios.
Hello.
Perhaps I should elaborate a bit more. From the time I was 11 years old until I was about 20 I had a Pilot radio, I would assume 1938/9 it was a table model with a large cabinet, it had a mains energised speaker and the following valves 6K8, 6K7, 6Q7, an unknown triode phase splitter, 2x 6V6, 5Z4 & Magic Eye. It had 6 bands 4 short & MW/LW. The on/off switch was mounted on the side and the speaker grille was fluted slats angling down about 30 degrees. Electrically its similar to the BS648 but is it the elusive B8648 or another rare model? The name "Pilot" was curved around the magic eye.
