Professional test equipment was generaly built with better quality components than the consumer grade caps used in domestic equipment, so recapping often isn't necessary.

Sounds good, I have put her back together and will leave her untouched, I'll revisit the attenuator later.

I checked all the ranges I could and the frequencies were all pretty close to the indicated ones so that seems to point to caps and components still being good.
