Default Re: DX TV 1st viewing for 2017

Well done Andy. I've been listening out at various times (as listed below) and have not heard a single convincing ping. I even went out on Saturday night to look for the visual traces and only saw 2 in the whole time. The sky was certainly dark enough - I saw quite a few aircraft with their navigation lights and 2 earth satellites, one North going South, the other South going North as well as the usual Astronomical Constellations.

The times are all BST, same listening frequencies.

Sat 12th 4:20 PM to 4:30 PM,
9:15 PM to 11:10 PM (also looked for visual)

Sun 13th 5:35 AM to 5:50 AM,
7:45 AM to 8:15 AM,
Noon to 12:15 PM,
5:50 PM to 6 PM,
8:40 PM to 9:10 PM,

Mon 14th 7:00 AM to 7:10 AM

I did not try any Band II propagation.

This null result for me is in stark contrast to what I used to hear several years ago - with the same set-up. I'm inclined to think that the R1 and R2 signals are from deeper in Russia than we may be assuming, ie the European area R1 and R2 analogue TXs may have already closed down. As for the source of the 50.275 Mc/s, well, who knows ?

Nice pictures Derrick I missed last nights opening but caught an opening this morning very strong signals on R 1 but Italian hams where booming in wiping out video from R 1.

There has been very little activity in the past week which has been very disappointing.
