Yes, a good natural link, but this is definitely not a Pye chasiss- just about everything about it is "non-Pye".

Thank you gentlemen, having had a look at the Strad 553W as suggested (a good chassis picture is available on the Radiomuseum.org), it is almost certain that this radio is a product of RM Electric, and the observation of a replacement mains transformer appears to be valid since the replacement is too big for a radio of this size.
