Perdio Portarama MK2
Gents and Ladies a question re my Perdio Portarama MK2. Single standard (405) grey case. There are a number of Capacitors shown on the Trader sheet as having + polarity on both terminals, I have not come across this before. Electrolytics yea no problem, non polarised no problem but two + terminals per cap?. On trader sheet 1652 they are C129 and 130 in the frame Timebase.
I feel a little stupid asking this but Ive never come across them before. Thanks in anticipation. |

Re: Perdio Portarama MK2
I don't have that trader sheet, but if you mean the capacitor symbol has 2 'hollow' plates, like the +ve plate of a normal electrolytic then that is a conventional symbol for a non-polarised (reversable) electrolytic capacitor.
This is a way to get large value (10's of uF) non-polarised capacitors (although they do have some 'quirks'). |

Re: Perdio Portarama MK2
They are probably non polorised electrolytic's you often see them in loud speaker cross over filters.
An example can be seen here. http://www.ebay.com/itm/68uf-68mfd-1...-/281769903165 Already posted by Tony Cheers Mike T

Yes, as has been said, reversible electrolytic capacitors.
A snippet from Trader sheet 1652 is shown below. |

Re: Perdio Portarama MK2
Some types of electrolytic capacitor can not tolerate reverse bias others can and the non-polar ones are simply two of the latter back to back.
