Default LEAK Troughline II

Hi All,

I am in the middle of restoring a Troughline II.
It was unfortunately one where someone had 'twiddled' but I have chosen this over the two III's I have because of its almost Art Deco looks.

I read on-line that a small squirt of WD40 helped in the 'freeing' of the Ferrite Cores which I have to say worked a treat.
I now have the Radio playing away Radio 3 ready for tonight's Proms and I have to say the sound (with an added Stereo Decoder) is sublime.

My question is, that although the Ferrite Cores are now lovely and free, they are a bit too free !!
The old Elastic Bands to prevent free movement have long since disintegrated and I have found modern Bands to be slightly thicker. I don't want to crack the Cores now I have it almost back to new. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Also, my Acrylic (?) front panel has a corner missing. The only blemish to an otherwise lovely looking (and now working) set.
Does anyone have one to sell?

Many thanks,

James.

Rather than elastic bands, the traditional material was a couple of strands of the elastic from the waistband of a pair of discarded underpants/knickers!

Many thanks.
I am unfortunately a single chap so no Knickers to dismantle !!

My underpants don't seem to have that sort of Elastic but I do remember exactly the type you mean !! Now, where to find some. Asking for people's underpants on here is going to raise some eyebrows I suspect !!

You could try thin Pte tape such as tooth floss .Try a couple of strands or more until you get
Enough bite

Whilst recognising that this is a perfectly serious technical enquiry in itself James, your last comment did raise a smile As for putting out a request for clothing, well this has always been a fairly progressive and broad minded Forum. Comments are often made that there seems to be very little it can't come up with on request

Thanks for the replies folks, glad to be of amusement Dave ;-)

I have tried PTFE Tape but wasn't 100% pleased with the results, I'll give it another go.
I'm liking the Dental Floss/Tape idea, will also try that.

I have two 20m rolls of Shearing Elastic on order (£1.84 !!).

I will report back with the best result.

Thanks again,

James.
