If anybody has missed them, maybe Ch5 will repeat.

Dave's right, they're really quite good.

Paul.

Tonight's program is repeated in the morning at 5.15 channel 5 worth recording, or setting the alarm! Best wishes for 2009 from John.

I've recorded the set of lectures and watched a couple. Quite impressive, I thought. Obviously aimed at younger people, with an audience of youngsters, there is still a lot of insight on offer here and interesting set-piece displays, too. If anyone would like a set on DVD before I delete them, let me know.

As a matter of interest many of the previous lectures, going back to the early 60s, are available to download free from the Royal Institute web site. There is an interesting series about computers from the mid 80s.

They used to be transmitted by the BBC of course and each one was an hour. Fortunately Channel 5 took over when the BBC lost interest, but each is now 45 minutes with commercial breaks.

It does make me wonder what it is that we pay our licence fee for. There's still some science and technology based programmes but nowadays, few reach the earlier standards of the BBC. Far too much dumbing down, IMHO.
