Probably one of the best explanations of how vintage television works can occasionally be seen on Talking Pictures TV - it's a film made by Bush's parent company and includes contributions from EMI, Bush and Mullard.

Live Long & Prosper.

Gosh that brought back some memories:

Ampex VR2000.

Scotch 400 video tape.

Dunno what the deck with the horizontal mechanism was, though the VR1000 was similar and had the audio monitor & video monitor mounted above, but is unlikely to still be in use in the late 70s.

Those 14" reels of 2" video tape were heavy.

Loved the long haired geeks towards the end.

1977: so it's 46 years this July since I attended the VR2000 training course in Reading.
