Default T1154 PA valves

A friend of mine has found six VT104s among a box of valves in his loft. These output valves were used in pairs in the PA stage of the famous T1154 RAF transmitter.

Would anyone relatively local in the Worcestershire/Birmingham/West Midlands area owning a valve tester capable of testing these beasts properly be able to test them for us please? My simple Weston TV-4A valve checker is a bit too basic for such potentially valuable/rare valves. All expenses reimbursed of course.

Thanks,

Phil

Phil,

I think you will struggle getting them tested on a valve tester, as there arent many that work at a kv on the anode.....

Rare? not really, Valuable? erm, about 20 quid a piece.

I have not found a bad one yet (about 20 currently in stock here)

Best you could do is lash up a test rig and compare results to the valve data.

Cheers
Sean

Then can be teted on an AVO VCM - I've done them in the past, and they are listed in the AVO valve manual (under their civilian designation).

Thanks Sean,
I couldn't remember the number. I tested mine with a AVO mk3, so any of that range should do, not sure about the CT160 though. I fairly sure that the 2 panel type tester won't handle them.

Thanks, Sean. These valves came out of a box from an unknown source, and over half of the 'ordinary' valves in the box I tested were duff, o/c heaters and the like. Why do people put duff valves back in their boxes ... anyway, it's useful to know they're reliable, not so rare and also the civilian designation PT15. Much appreciated, guys, thanks for the info
