Default Not Vintage radio component but.....

Being as you have been so helpful in the past with components we were wondering if anyone can identify a couple of components from a 1980's motorcycle electronic ignition unit(nearly looks home made). The one long and one short wire wound(or round-can't read writing to well!) items across the p.c board and the green upright items of which there are 3 with markings on them BY 227-F7923 PH, F7935 PH, F7931 PH, or if someone can point us in the right direction. Thank you so much. x

BY227 is a diode very commonly found in this sort of package years ago

Looks like a Lucas Rita unit, bad at the best of times.

Goodness! Is that really a commercially produced item? Much as I'm in favour of the last 40 years of automotive development, I'd rather trust a contact breaker than that electronic soup! Is it anything to do with the Prince of Darkness' product line?

If those two open frame wire-wound resistors are OK, they're pretty likely to be not far from the value they were intended to be but if they're open-circuit, you could at least probe along the wire and add the values measured to get an idea of what the original value was.

The PH is likely to be short for Philips, the 7923 etc. numbers will be production year and week. Agree that they are BY227 diodes, a fairly widespread high voltage type.

Crossed with merlin!

Sorry, but automotive ignition systems are off topic for these forums.

Default Sorry for posting off topic

Sorry hadn't realised that what I posted wasn't allowed. It was just a "spur of the moment" thought to see if anyone would know "who/what/where + why". The couple of replies we got were very helpful so thank you for that-you lot are very helpful. xx
