Default Eddystone All World Two Receiver

Hi Everyone,
My new project is the WWII VI (Voluntary Interceptors) Eddystone All World Two Receiver. Although I do have the assembly manual for the Radio, I don't have any dimensions. Does anyone have an actual receiver from which they could get the dimensions? I've attached an old ad.

Thank You
Gary,KF9CM

Hi Gary,

I'm afraid I can't help you with the info you requested (although as a first approximation I guess you could scale it off the nut securing the toggle switch).

Did we really rely on a two valve straight sets for miltary intelligence gatheringin WW2? I had always assumed that the VI's were equipped with HRO's.

Hi,

The "eddystone all world 2" was released as a home construction kit in 1936, it was a basic beginners kit.

This was then used by voluntary interceptors until the HRO arrived from the Yanks

It'll take me a while to find it but I think I've got an all world two in bits hidden in the workshop. I'll look for it in a few days but no guarantees.

Thanks Robin,

I appreciate the effort. I have several Hammarlund ribbed coil forms, There very close to the Eddystone type. The difficult part is finding the Mullard PM2A and PM22A valves and there associated holders.

I have a single PM3 here, if that could be of any use. The heater is working but untested otherwise.

Eureka,

I found the dimensions over on the Eddystone forum. They are;
Chassis:
8-1/2" wide X 5-3/4" deep X 2-3/8 High.

Front panel:
8-1/2" wide X 7" High

I found these in the 1939 Shot Wave Catalogue.

Instead of reproducing the "All World Two Receiver", I'm going to go with the "Amateurs Short Wave Two". They both have the same lay-out with the exception of the valves. The "All World Two Receiver" utilizes the Mullard PM 2 and PM22 valves. These valves are very rare. The "Amateurs Short Wave Two" uses the EF8 and EL3 valves. The EF8 looks very close to the 6K7 US valve in characteristics.

Thanks for the input.

Hi Gary,
I have several 2Volt British 4pin old valves that have been given to me to help raise funds for my Macmillan and Hospice Cancer charity appeal.
Numbers were difficult to read but I believe they are as follows:-
3 off Osram triode from researc h of pictures could be NT82 like PM2A etc.
1 off Mullard PM1LF
1 off Cossor 230XP
1 off Cossor 215SG

If these are of any help, you can have them for a donation to my charity appeal.

2V valves and holders are pretty common in the UK. I am surprised at the line-up as both the PM2A and PM22A are output valves. I have a spare PM2A showing on my list but I think they were later ST shape.
