Default Ferguson Studio 6

Hi, Just obtained a cosmetically excellent Ferguson Studio 6.

Unfortunately only sound from right hand speaker and only the odd crackle from the left. Same on Record player and Radio settings. Any suggestions for the fault?

Much appreciated. Luke

Circuit details available at http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/thorn_f...ntre_3463.html

Check the speakers if not already tried, then fault find in the audio amplifier stages, the power supply is common to both channels so unless there is a break in the power to the faulty stage the PSU will be OK.

Before trying the speakers make sure there are no shorts on the speaker plugs or it could damage the good channel. If you have headphones you could try those instead.

My parents used to have one of these. I eventually traced intermittent disappearance of the right channel to dry joints on the power transistors.
