Hi all,
Given to me recently is this rather sad Lissen kit radio from the early to mid 30's, identified from a picture on radiomuseum as a "short wave three". Sadly missing valves and seen better says. Anyone here got one? John Joe |

Finally got to give it a try, using my Amplion Convette for the heaters and HT supplies and the bench power supply for the grid bias. Bringing in quite a few stations. It will need a proper overhaul but should be the effort.
Can't be many around, only info I could find on it was an advertisement for one on RM. |

Hi JJ, quite a popular set in its day. One of the main problems with these sets is often corroded connections on terminal posts. A really good clean can work wonders.

Hi Ed,
I'm sure it was but very little reference to be found on the Web to this particular model. The correct model is Bandspread Shortwave 8120. Hi Hamish, I got a job lot of suitable 2V triodes at Golborne so I'm finally in business. It needs a strip down and good clean but I was impressed with its sound quality driving a 3 ohm speaker with an output transformer for impedance matching. |
