Itt b54
Anyone know what this is? It looks like some sort of vacuum/gasfilled thermocouple device. 4 leads, glass tubular bulb about 3/8" diameter and 1-1/4" long.

Re: Itt b54
My telepathic skills are not too good tonight so a picture would help.

Re: Itt b54
It almost looks a bit like the device that was used as part of the regulator in 700-series GPO telephones, except these had 3 leads: http://www.britishtelephones.com/gpo/t706/fig_15.jpg

Re: Itt b54
Fascinating, thanks Lawrence.
Presumably good for measuring odd waveforms too, e.g. CRT heater supplies? |

Re: Itt b54
That looks very promising.
Some data would be nice, but I suspect that might be hard to source. I'll have a gentle play with one and see what I can measure.

Re: Itt b54
It looks like you have to put it in a jig and make up your own data sheet.
Then you can make yourself a real true RMS meter perhaps with the jig still in the electronics for future calibration. |

Re: Itt b54
The HP 415E SWR meter has switched inputs for a bolometer. The two settings are for 4.5 and 8.7MA? Yes capital M. I do not have the manual to hand but it might give you some idea of how to use one.
