Default Akai GX-77 0VU setting

I've just had the pleasure of rescuing one of these from a state of "broken and unsuccessfully bodged then left in a damp out-house for years". Several insects were harmed prior to this project commencing ;>(

During the restoration, it was possible to infer that the Akai "0dB" reference level for recording was set at 250nW/m, and the response curves are NAB.

Remarkably, despite the abuse it's suffered, the machine now works and sounds pretty good!

These were very good machines, well up with the competition in there day, very sensitive about the belts on the transport as they do a lot of hard work.
Congratulations on rescuing it and getting it up and running.

another one from the "these I have loved" file
