I have just checked my old photos and sorry to say I do not have one of the inside of the empty cabinet, and I no longer have an example of a 397 new pup.
But KB mounted most dials, particularly the ones with Bakelite bezels, with small metal tabs screwed into the bezel which held/braced the dial against the cabinet.
Maybe a couple of photos showing the dial in profile sideways and of the back of the dial will trigger my memory.
