Default Additions to 405tv website.

Hi,
I've managed to scan and photograph some old tv pictures and have put them on www.freewebs.com/405tv under TV Identification. Unfortunately many pics which I thought would scan or photograph ok didn't and are therefore omitted.
I hope these will be of interest, any comments good or bad gratefully received.

Cheers, Des.

Default New pages added to TV website.

Hi there,

I've added two more pages to www.freewebs.com/405tv ( "Selling the sets" and "Renting the sets* )
These are of sales and rental publicity material from the fifties and sixties. I hope they will be of interest. Quite a few pics will need a click on the bottom RH corner to enlarge and improve quality. I felt the need to share with others the publicity material I have. Let me know what you think, Good or bad.

All the best, Des.

Hi Des

What a great insight into the way that television was marketed in a much gentler age. Some excellent material beautifully reproduced. The style of many of them is very much in keeping with other products of the era too. Certainly a worthy addition to your site.

Have you got any more? Does your publicity extend into the 1970s?

All the very best and thanks,

I still have thw Ferguson 636T Golden Glide set I purchased in 1961, when I worked for Rediffusion Research. Must unearth it and do a restoration.

Hi,
Thanks for your comments. I do have more materal. My mobile is ok for just photos but for small print I really need to use a scanner which I don't have. I've been using the one in my local library. My main interest in old tv's starts with the 110 degree 17" slimline sets from 1959 and goes into the early dual standard era. I do have some KB material from the late sixties and early seventies also some bits and pieces from the early to mid fifties. It may take some time until these appear. Also I'm not sure how many pictures Freewebs will allow me to put on my site as I'm using their free service. As I said earlier I just want to share my material with like minded people and hope it brings as much pleasure to you as it does to me.

Thanks again,

Des.

Looking at your site certainly jogs the memory .the shop fronts and the showrooms the way they were laid out much different from today were someone goes into asda pulls a box of the shelf puts it in a trolley.televisions then were most of all a piece of furniture to go into your home
