Re: P.C.R. 111 radio
The article in post 14 is from February 1968. Unfortunately I don't have a copy of the June 65 article.

Re: P.C.R. 111 radio
I've never heard of - or seen - a PCR 111.
Any chance of a photo / picture, please? Thanks. Al. / Skywave |

Er, you do realise that by 111 he means 3.

Re: P.C.R. 111 radio
Thanks Keith, that allows me to slot it into the right pigeonhole amongst my memories. I was only 12 and couldn't afford a PCR. I eventually got one around 8 years later but by then I'd also got an HRO-MX and modding the PCR didn't seem very interesting. Sadly I now have neither.

Been away from base for a break. just got back. Alrady have that article thanks. The only thing I was thinking of adding was a 1Meg Pot to the output to adjust the output and prevent swamping. Anyway should be making a start on the restoring the PCR next week. Paul |

Re: P.C.R. 111 radio
Hi All,
Just got the PCR onto the bench and out of it's metal box. Looks like it has had a few changes over the years? Mains PSU fitted internally (smoothing cap' dated 1945)! Also an extra choke or transformer on the chassis. Nice and clean inside though. I just love the "wickerwork", type valve retainers All the wax capacitors have a bad case of the "mumps", so my next few days will involve changing them out. Paul. |

Re: P.C.R. 111 radio
Hi Kalee -
Just a quickie to say that those photos brought back some very fond memories from yesteryear. As per your earlier comment - I once owned one of those - and an HRO - all long since gone now though - for reasons that made sense at the time Mind you, that PCR of yours certainly looks clean inside Good luck with it. Re: P.C.R. 3 radio
Hi all,
The final "death toll", of capacitors on the PCR is considerable; I am happy to report however that the "patient", has now undergone transplant surgery and has made a return to excellent health. I am pulling in loads of stations from all over the world. Just a bit of cosmetic work to do then I can try out my home made BFO. More photos soon, Paul |
