Re: RetrotechUK May 21st
I take it you're referring to the instructions given to stallholders (who will obviously require a means to transport items to/from their stalls outside opening times), whereas I'm referring to the WEC's insistence on not having trolleys in the hall once open to the public.

Re: RetrotechUK May 21st
I am confused now, can somebody clarify if the new venue provides trollies for stall holders to move their stuff from cars to the hall? I will be on a stall helping a friend, and can bring one if we need to, but it's a big thing to get in the car.

Re: RetrotechUK May 21st
The stallholders information sheet that comes with tickets clearly says. "You will need to bring your own trolleys".

The stallholder info sheet also says: "After 9.00am trolleys will not be allowed into the hall and any stock will have to be carried in".

Re: RetrotechUK May 21st
Thanks, Steve (102), for confirming that the same restriction applies as at WEC and I shall need to carry items for Bring & Buy.
Not being a stallholder, I didn't have access to the stallholder information sheet.

Re: RetrotechUK May 21st
Looking forward to this! Still plenty of stuff to come out of the loft, but have at least cleared the other stuff away so It should be fairly easy to get down. Dunno if it will all fit in the car, though!

Re: RetrotechUK May 21st
Does anyone know if the bring and buy is open to receive goods prior to 9:00am?

Re: RetrotechUK May 21st
Thank you, yes I saw that posting, but it doesn't state whether or not it's accessible prior to 09:00 hours.

Re: RetrotechUK May 21st
It is often open to receive items (but NOT for buying) towards the end of stallholder setting up time, but it depends on what else the B&B helpers are doing at that time (museum team could be bringing in museum items and others could be on loading door duty for example).
Also of course it is a new venue so there could be a bit more uncertainty or delays getting everything sorted. I wouldn't rely on it being accessible before 9am. It would be best to check when you arrive, before bringing a load of items across. If not and you are going for early entry then perhaps have a good look around first, then bring your B&B items in around 10am before normal entry. |

Re: RetrotechUK May 21st
Just started loading the car, first item in was a Grundig 2x4 super, V2000 video machine! Almost did my back in, forgot how heavy they are.
Looking forward to it. Keep finding more stuff that I think I should bring. |

Re: RetrotechUK May 21st
Thank you for that Paul, that makes things clearer for me. As you say, it's probably best not to drag a load of heavy stuff from the car in anticipation, only to then find that access isn't possible or that no people are about to take the goods.
For me, it looks like I have multiple trips from and to the car (there's that much stuff - and heavy too!), so it's going to be a bit of a killer methinks. I don;t seem to have much energy these days. I'll have to try and pace myself somehow. Thank you - I wish everyone a successful and interesting day. I'm really looking forward to it.

Re: RetrotechUK May 21st
With the bring-and-buy stall people tend to check it several times a day as different items appear and prices reduce etc, so spreading your trips out would be fine.

Re: RetrotechUK May 21st
Thought it might be useful to share the table plan for Sunday. It is not a blatant advert for my table 134, the plan was marked before I received it…… honest!

Re: RetrotechUK May 21st
Aub, I believe not. But I think it’s acceptable to purchase food & drink from the trailer outside then bring it into the ‘ rest area’ to consume where there will be tables & chairs. That’s my understanding of it, anyway.
If I’m incorrect, I’m sure one of the committee will correct me. Cheers. SimonT.
