Default Akai AM-U04 question

Hi all. I have been handed an Akai AM-U04 for repair. The power LED lights up , The LEDs that are supposed to light when you switch sources don't light up and no sound is present at all. The fluro VU meters don't react - Nada. All of the fuses are OK so I'm putting it down to the STK3042 module at the moment. Am I right in thinking that it'd be OK to use either an STK3042 or the ii or iii versions with no comeback?
