Default kodascope D help

Hi, I want to keep my kodascope D as original as possible. The only thing that I worry about is the asbestos in the resistor. It is a fairly large metal caged thing, and I wondered if anyone on the forum could replace the asbestos with a modern heat proof substance. I won't be persuaded into keeping it there, I saved it from going in the bin once, so if I can't get it done, thats where its going Im afraid. I will cover all the costs to someone who can do this,
thanks
