Non-standard resistor colour code
I'm going slighly bonkers trying to remember which manufacturer, possibly in Germany, used a non-standard colour code. Their resistors have a pronounced dog-bone shape although the leads are axial, and IIRC you can usually see the spiral groove through the paint on film types (maybe they were all film).
The idea behind the code was that the predominant colour was the decade (unlike body-tip-dot where it's the first s.f.) so that you could see at a glance what kind of function it might have in the circuit. But the colours stood for different numbers too. I think there are some in a chassis I've just come across, but can't get back to it to take a look for a while. My search results are swamped with trivial hits for the code we're all familiar with... |
