I suepect Taylor may have just been who made the big meter.

It looks like a small production-run, specialist kind of thing, probably built in a workshop rather than in a factory. University labs used to be full of this kind of thing.

I would guess it dates from the 1950s or even 1960s.

Probably more valuable as a source of useful bits than as a whole IMHO.

Nickthedentist, thanks for reply , that makes sense as there are no maker marks anywhere there is a number on the back of the panel

No. 2766 _9465 vf

The taylor meter is a mod60

The other meter is a baldwin model 547470, with a date of 1964 on it

Looks like the case for my friend and i will be the owner of the bits ,

Regards mark

Whatever it is, I love the simplicity of the "auto switch off when the lid is closed" arrangement!

Yes, I was admiring that.

Anyone know what the dial on the lower right is? Elapsed hours indicator, maybe?

I am also curious about that dial on the bottom right too.
I can also see a well rotted battery in it too.

The dial seems to be calibrated 0-9 and have two "hands".

The dial is simply an integrated 10-turn pot and read-out scale- these were quite common at one point as a cheaper and more compact version of the separate pot and "combination lock" drive that was commonly seen on e.g. delay timebase 'scopes.
