GEC Bakelite fan heater.
These don't seem to turn up very often and when they do they're usually damaged with cracks from around the circular opening due to the heat being emitted.
I was lucky to find a nice one without such damage for my collection. Most people that haven't seen one of these before assume its a speaker and are surprised when told it's actually a heater. I would imagine these are from the 1930's, very well made and heavy. I've been told dark green mottled ones were made, I've never seen one, and would be interested if this could be confirmed.

An attractive piece of equipment with a nice Art Deco look to it.

Re: GEC Bakelite fan heater.
My parents had one of these heaters in brown. My father brought it home from his office in about 1946. I was told it dated back to 1936 or so and had kept his office warm throughout the war.
It stayed in regular use until well into the 1960,s. I inherited it and it was in my loft until the mid 1980's when it went to the tip. Just for fun I powered it up just before taking it and it worked fine. They don't make 'em like that any more!
