Default Panasonic SG-2070L

Does anybody have much experience of the turntables on these lovely old music centres?

I have had mine for many years with very, very few problems up until the other day when I went to use the turntable. When I try to lift the tonearm with the cueing lever it doesn`t lift high enough to clear the surface of the record (I found out the hard way!), but when the auto return mechanism is going through it`s paces it lifts the tonearm as it should, so I`m sure this is a problem with the lever mechanism itself.

Just looking for any pointers/advice on this before I remove the deck and delve underneath. I`ve got a horrible feeling something has snapped or broken as this has happened suddenly, and not over a period of time.

Many thanks all

If it’s something broken then it should be obvious. It might just be sticky grease stopping the lift working.

I'd start by checking the service manual for the deck, to see what parts are involved. A picture tells a thousand words!
